Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of prints do you offer?
I offer several high-quality print options to fit different styles and spaces:
- Paper Prints (Lustre or Matte): Professional photographic paper with rich color, sharp detail, and a clean finish. Lustre offers a soft sheen with reduced glare, while matte has a smooth, non-reflective look. The most affordable way to bring SDPhotography into your home — perfect for framing.
- Metal Prints: Printed directly onto aluminum for a modern, bold presentation. Metal prints are vibrant, durable, moisture-resistant, and arrive ready to hang. Best for contemporary spaces and statement walls.
- Canvas Prints: Gallery-wrapped canvas prints with a 1.5" depth that add warmth and texture. Ready to hang with no frame needed. Ideal for larger spaces and a classic gallery look.
- Framed Prints: Available by special request. Because framing options vary by size, style, and finish, framed prints are handled individually. Please contact me for details and availability.
What size should I choose?
Not sure which size is right for your wall? Here are some general guidelines:
- 8x10 / 8x12 — Great for desks, shelves, small walls, and gallery walls alongside other prints.
- 11x14 / 11x16 — A popular mid-size choice. Works well above a desk, in a hallway, or as part of a grouping.
- 12x18 — A versatile size that works as a standalone piece or in a larger grouping.
- 16x24 — A strong statement size. Works beautifully above a sofa, bed, or console table.
- 20x30 / 24x36 — Large format. Designed to anchor a room as the focal point of a wall. Stunning in living rooms, offices, and open spaces.
A good rule of thumb: your wall art should fill about two-thirds of the wall width above a piece of furniture. If in doubt, go larger — prints almost always look better bigger than you expect.
Metal, Canvas, or Paper — which should I choose?
Each format has its strengths:
- Metal is best for bold, colorful images where you want maximum impact — city skylines, vibrant travel scenes, and dramatic landscapes look incredible on aluminum. It's also the most durable and moisture-resistant option.
- Canvas brings a warm, gallery-art feel and works especially well for landscapes, travel scenes, and black and white photography. The texture softens the image slightly for a painterly quality.
- Paper is the most versatile and affordable option. It renders the full tonal range of black and white photography beautifully and is ideal if you plan to frame the print yourself.
Who prints my order?
I partner exclusively with WHCC (White House Custom Colour), one of the most respected professional print labs in the country. WHCC is trusted by professional photographers across the USA for their museum-quality standards, exceptional color accuracy, and archival-grade materials. Every print is made to order — no mass production, no pre-made inventory.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders are typically submitted to WHCC within 1–2 business days of purchase.
- Printing typically takes 1–3 business days
- Domestic orders ship via expedited shipping and typically arrive within 3–5 business days after printing
- International orders typically arrive within 7–14 business days
- You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships
What are your shipping costs and policies?
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. I ship domestically within the United States and internationally. All orders include tracking and are carefully packaged to ensure your prints arrive safely.
What is your return policy?
All sales are final. Because every print is made to order specifically for you, I'm unable to accept returns or exchanges for ordering mistakes such as selecting the wrong size, finish, or format.
However, if there is any issue with the quality of your print — a printing defect, damage in transit, or anything that falls short of the standard you expect — I will reship the same print until you are completely satisfied. Your satisfaction is my priority and I stand behind every piece I send.
Can you accommodate custom print sizes?
Yes. While the website features the most popular sizes, I can produce prints in virtually any dimension — including large-format and panoramic sizes. If you have a specific size in mind that isn't listed, please reach out and I'll put together a custom order for you.
What is an Artist Edition print?
Artist Edition prints are limited edition releases selected from my portfolio. Each piece is hand-signed and produced in a limited quantity, making it a more exclusive and collectible offering. Availability is limited and new releases are announced periodically — follow along on social media to be the first to know.
How do I care for my print?
- Paper Prints: Display away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. For best longevity, frame with UV-protective glass.
- Metal Prints: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Metal prints are moisture-resistant and extremely durable — they require minimal maintenance.
- Canvas Prints: Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and high humidity for best preservation.
How long will my print last?
All prints are produced using archival-quality materials and inks engineered for longevity. When properly cared for and displayed away from direct sunlight, your prints can last for decades while maintaining their color and clarity. Paper prints benefit most from UV-protective framing.
What if there is a problem with my order?
While issues are rare, if anything goes wrong — a printing defect, damage in transit, or any quality concern — I will reship the same print until you are completely happy with it. Please contact me with your order details and a photo of the issue and I'll take care of it promptly.
How can I contact you?
