Afternoon Commute - cyclists crossing Bryggebroen bridge, Copenhagen

Afternoon Commute: I Didn't Know Why Yet

I was in Copenhagen, wandering. No plan, no destination, just walking. I looked up and saw a bridge full of people: cyclists, commuters, people getting from one part of the city to another. Ordinary daily life. Something about it said take this picture, and I did.

I knew right away it was a good frame. I didn't know why yet.

It took me months to land on the reason. It wasn't the bridge. It was the bicycles. The way an entire city moves by bike like it's nothing. Not a lifestyle, not a statement, just how you get around. Copenhagen doesn't treat it as special. That's not London. That's not Charlotte.

I didn't know that's what I was photographing. I only knew I had to take the shot.

Afternoon Commute is available as a fine art photography print in metal, canvas, or paper.
